A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth.
Extractions are advised when a tooth becomes decayed, infected and beyond repair to stop the infection in its tracks. Some orthodontic treatment might also need dental extraction to make space for teeth movement.

Done under local anaesthesia, the damaged tooth is removed using a forceps.
Certain teeth which are not visible or easily accessible, fractured tooth, impacted wisdom tooth then a more complex surgical approach is taken to extract the tooth.
